More marinas to know

Around Australia, from WA to Queensland, marinas are adding to their offerings and waiting to welcome boaties as they explore our island nation.

Shellharbour Marina

Hailed as “Australia’s newest lifestyle boating destination”, Shellharbour Marina is located on the NSW South Coast. 

Consisting of 270 berths for vessels up to 35-metres, fuel, dry storage, vessel lifting and commercial marine services, with direct access to the Tasman Sea. The marina offers a safe harbour to enjoy boating all year round located 50 nautical miles south of Sydney Harbour and 30 nautical miles north of Jervis Bay.

The marina is at the heart of The Waterfront, Shell Cove development, with multiple harbourside dining options, tavern, a vibrant town centre, and luxury apartment living opportunities. Gateway Marina

In Queensland, there are several new marinas taking shape, and some adding enhancements, such as larger berths and more guest services at Mackay Marina, Central Queensland.

At Burnett Heads, close to Bundaberg and the southern Great Barrier Reef, Gateway Marina will be a sheltered and safe harbour with state-of-the-art marina berthing facilities, waterfront accommodation with shops, restaurants, bars and cafés.

The Gateway Burnett Heads has been designed as a high-quality, mixed-use marina village located at Burnett Heads, 15 minutes from the Bundaberg CBD.

When complete, it will offer a 318-berth, state-of-the-art marina, waterfront residential community providing short and long term accommodation, boutique retail, dining and tourism services.

Maintenance and service facilities at Bundaberg Port Marina are 2 kilometres away by car and an easy cruise up river, and has berths for vessels up to 45-metres, a 75-tonne marine travel lift, hard stand, dry storage and Customs Clearance. gatewaymarina.com.au

Pelican Waters Marina, Sunshine Coast

Opened in June 2023, Pelican Waters Marina is a safe harbour marina located within the protected waterways of Pelican Waters at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast. This modern facility is the only marina on the Sunshine Coast that provides both modern wet berths and dry boat storage for vessels up to 12m.

The marina consists of 126 wet berths to accommodate boats up to 15m long. Berths rates are available as either casual or permanent on a daily, weekly or yearly basis. 

All berths are supplied with power and water. A fuel service is available along with sewerage pump out facilities. Those with boats in the marina are able to take advantage of the brand new ensuite amenities and client lounge with wi-fi. There will soon be an on-site café serving coffee and snacks.

North Harbour

And on the horizon is North Harbour, Caboolture – between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast – which is a $2.74 billion Masterplanned Community, complete with 400-berth marina, waterfront retail and entertainment village and open space recreation area along the Caboolture River. northharbourmarina.com.au

Ocean Reef Marina, Joondalup

In WA, the City of Joondalup will soon welcome Ocean Reef Marina, about 26km north of the Perth CBD. Breakwaters have been built and dredging has commenced. Ocean Reef Marina will include waterfront cafes and restaurants, a protected internal beach and coastal pool, walkways and open spaces for the community.

Residential areas will be separated from marine services, and 12,000-square-metres of retail/commercial space will help attract local and international visitors alike.
