Since 2016, Integrity Motor Yachts has been working with Australian design house, 3Beaches Textiles. Increasingly owners are seeing the benefits of great interior furnishings. Stylish interiors can enhance comfort and visual appeal as well breathe life into pre-love boats. Yet what should you consider when furnishing your boat?
Niamh Brennan started 3Beaches in 2014 with fellow alumni, Sonya Romeo, from the Australian Institute of Creative Design. Their ethos was to produce stylish products of uncompromised excellence capable of enduring the extremes of the Australian climate. Niamh, Sonya and their colleagues teamed up with textiles giant, Sunbrella, to produce a series of uniquely Australian, hardwearing fabrics perfect for the marine environment.
We asked Niamh for her insider tips and tricks plus what to expect in 2020 and here is what she had to say.
1. Don’t be afraid of colour and texture
Soft furnishing provide the accents to your boat’s interior so don’t be afraid to be bold. Pick a colour, or colours, which complement the interior and then play with patterns and fabric texture. Blue is the obvious choice, yet the palette can be varied as the Australian landscape itself.
2. Fabric durability is paramount
Boat owners know to select exterior fabrics which are UV, water, liquid and stain resistant. Yet, interior fabrics on a boat are equally exposed to sunlight, salt air and other harsh elements. By customising your cabins and bedding, you can not only imprint your own distinct style yet also select fabrics which promote longevity and are fit for purpose. All of the fabrics in the 3Beaches Textiles range are marine and commercial grade as well as bleach cleanable and machine washable.
3. Trends for 2020
In 2020, the Pantone Colour of the Year is Classic Blue. It is ideal for boats however; we noticed another trend in a softer blue which we have incorporated into our Auchenflower line of fabric, in the colour-way Bell Blue. The Auchenflower range is inspired by the relaxed elegance of a ‘Queenslander’ home garden using the soft blues with contrasting colours of blush pink, honey and olive.
